Longtime ATL readers know how this works. We roll with a sixteen-school bracket, with the seedings drawn directly from the most recent U.S. News law school rankings. So if you disagree with the seedings, take it up with U.S. News.
We limit the bracket to sixteen for convenience and ease of administration, and we list the schools in the order in which they appear in U.S. News. There are a few ties: Michigan and Penn are tied for #7, Berkeley and UVA are tied for #9, Georgetown and Texas are tied for #14, and Vanderbilt and UCLA are tied for #16.
Yup, that’s the one tricky part: U.S News lists 17 schools in the top 16. We decided to go with Vanderbilt since (1) Vandy produced the founders of Law School Transparency, who have done so much to keep law schools honest, and (2) we already have some schools from California in the mix.
