Last week, we asked readers to submit possible captions for this photo:

On Friday, you voted on the finalists, and now it’s time to announce the winner of our caption contest….

As is customary with our caption contests, we will now reveal the backstory behind the picture. We saw this image while reading about the redesign of Holland & Knight’s D.C. office. The firm’s lobbying and public policy group is now home to a prototype of sorts, complete with themed “neighborhoods” — including a Mos Eisley-esque Cantina, an indoor Astroturf lawn with picnic tables, and the Bat Cave, whose walls serve as giant, erasable white boards. Not quite as exciting as the real Bat Cave, but we’ll award points for creativity. (It’s too bad nobody nominated the firm for our best law offices contest.)

And now, without further ado, here’s the winning caption:

Bruce Wayne: Where am I?

Bane: Biglaw, where I learned the truth about despair, as will you. There’s a reason why this prison is the worst hell on earth… Hope. Every associate who has ventured here over the years has looked up to the light and imagined climbing to freedom or a government job. So easy… So simple… And like shipwrecked men turning to sea water from uncontrollable thirst, many have died trying. I learned here that there can be no true despair without hope. So, as I assign cases, I will feed these attorneys hope to poison their souls. I will let them believe they can survive so that you can watch them clamoring over each other to get out of debt. You can watch me torture an entire law firm and when you have truly understood the depth of your failure, we will fulfill the firm’s destiny… We will destroy these law grads and then, when it is done and this associate class is ashes, then you have my permission to die.
