Lawyerly Lairs: A Biglaw Partner's Attractive Nuisance?

A lawyer's "sexy shower" has the neighborhood talking.

According to Gothamist, the owners are “two 30-something lawyers.” But our research pointed us in a different direction. We learned that the house still qualifies as a “Lawyerly Lair,” but with only one attorney owner (who is past his thirties).

We did some snooping around online and determined that this stunning home is owned by James Cavoli, a litigation partner at Milbank Tweed, and his wife, a reporter at the New York Times. The Cavolis got married in 2004 and bought the house in 2011 for $2.175 million. That might seem like a bargain given the house’s great location and size, but it was apparently “badly in need of renovation” when they purchased it. They proceeded to undertake a thorough and impressive remodeling job, which surely cost them a pretty penny (and did not endear them to some of the neighbors — maybe the same ones who tattled to Gothamist).

We reached out to the Cavolis to see if they might have any comment on their home and its allegedly “sexy shower.” They sent us this great statement, which suggests that the shower is not so sexy after all and that nosy neighbors should mind their own business:

We are flattered and mildly fascinated that our neighbors have taken an interest in a bathroom that has never been used and is still under construction, and can only hope they will be as friendly when installation of the glass privacy coverings are complete.

This architect’s rendering shows how the privacy coverings might look after installation:

So if you were hoping to catch this couple in the nude, you’ll be disappointed; you’ll have to settle for ogling their home. Congratulations to the Cavolis on creating a wonderful Cobble Hill retreat.
