Another Firm Bumps Associate Salaries To The $180K Scale
We have our first Cravath match -- lock, stock, and barrel.
Well, that didn’t take long. About four and a half hours after we first learned that Cravath would bump associate base salaries to $180K, the tips started pouring in from California that litigation boutique Hueston Hennigan matched the Cravath scale lock, stock, and barrel, in both its L.A. and Newport Beach offices.
Around the ATL office we’d mused that some firms might cynically boost first-year salaries to $180K while compressing salaries up the chain, but that’s certainly not the case here.
Law Firm Business Development Is More Than Relationship Building
Perhaps it’s not surprising that a firm born out of an exodus over disappointing compensation with a history of beating Biglaw bonuses would be committed to staying on the cutting edge of salary.
Congratulations to the Hueston Hennigan associates!
Remember, when your firm matches, please text us (646-820-8477) or email us (subject line: “[Firm Name] Matches Cravath”). Please include the memo if available. You can take a photo of the memo and send it via text or email if you don’t want to forward the original PDF or Word file.
