Well, that didn’t take long. About four and a half hours after we first learned that Cravath would bump associate base salaries to $180K, the tips started pouring in from California that litigation boutique Hueston Hennigan matched the Cravath scale lock, stock, and barrel, in both its L.A. and Newport Beach offices.
Around the ATL office we’d mused that some firms might cynically boost first-year salaries to $180K while compressing salaries up the chain, but that’s certainly not the case here.

Perhaps it’s not surprising that a firm born out of an exodus over disappointing compensation with a history of beating Biglaw bonuses would be committed to staying on the cutting edge of salary.
