After stepping down as Speaker of the House about a year ago, John Boehner is finally getting around to being gainfully employed again. And he’s taking his talents to Biglaw.

Squire Patton Boggs announced today that Boehner will be joining the firm’s public-policy practice as a strategic adviser, where he will work on global business development. It makes sense that the former politico landed at Squire Patton Boggs, with its noted lobbying practice that is a huge revenue generator — though the firm insists Boehner will not be a lobbyist in his new role. As per the Wall Street Journal:

“With his reputation and combined experience in both business and government, there are few people better equipped than Speaker Boehner to help us take things to the next level and bring our services to clients around the world,” Steve Mahon, Squire Patton Boggs’s global managing partner, said in a statement. He won’t lobby in his new role, the firm said.

And Boehner won’t be lonely in the halls of Biglaw. Squire Patton Boggs has a stable of political types on its payroll:

[Boehner] joined former Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott, a Mississippi Republican, and John Breaux, the former Louisiana senator, whose lobbying practice Patton Boggs acquired in 2010 as part of a strategy to bolster the firm’s sway in Washington. Also on Tuesday, the firm announced that longtime Boehner aides John Criscuolo and Amy Lozupone will join the team. Former Boehner deputy chief of staff Dave Schnittger and policy adviser Natasha Hammond already work at the firm.

Best of luck as the former Speaker embarks on the Biglaw phase of life.
