Debate: Should NATO Expand To Protect Montenegro?

Two experts, Jeffrey Tayler and Bodo Weber, debate this important issue.

FYI, here's where Montenegro is.

FYI, here’s where Montenegro is.

Raise your hand if you can find Montenegro on a map.

If you raised your hand, put it down because you were lying.

And yet, this tiny and often dysfunctional Balkan state is currently at the heart of a significant debate in the Senate about NATO expansion. President Trump made a splash during the campaign when he suggested ending NATO altogether, not to mention recent Tweets accusing Germany of not paying its fair NATO share.

But, this week, the Senate plans to vote on a bill approving Montenegro’s NATO membership, despite loud opposition from noted senators like Mike Lee and Rand Paul. Follow the debate as it unfolds live.
