EMAIL FROM DEAN GOTANDA TO VILLANOVA LAW STUDENTS
Dear Students,
I am writing to follow up regarding the final exam for Professor Dellapenna’s Contracts section. With many of you preparing for other exams this week, it became clear that the scheduling of an additional exam to take place during the regular exam period would not be practical, particularly in light of previously scheduled assignments and other personal commitments and obligations. Your concerns regarding the previously announced decision were heard and, after further consideration and consultation with Professor Dellapenna and Dean Brennan, the final for this section of Contracts will now be a 24-hour take-home exam.

This new exam replaces the original test in its entirety; no portion of the previous exam will be counted toward your final grade. You may take the exam beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, May 11, and all exams must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, May 21. Exam instructions will be forthcoming from the Registrar’s office.
Please know that your well-being and the integrity of the exam process were our highest priorities as we tried to devise a solution for this matter. I want to assure you that we explored numerous options, and we believe that this resolution is the most equitable for everyone involved. It is important to us that we ensure that all students have an equal opportunity to succeed.
On behalf of the entire VLS leadership, I want to apologize for the error and the inconvenience and anxiety that this situation has caused. Please know that this is a matter we take most seriously and that we are actively taking steps to ensure that an error of this kind does not occur again.
Sincerely,
