The legal Twittersphere is buzzing today about a new article that appeared on Salon this morning titled, “10 careers with the most psychopaths per capita.” You can imagine how it ended up giddily passed around legal circles: attorneys clock in at number 2 on this illustrious list, second only to corporate CEOs. Lawyers outpace other psycho jobs on the list, like media people (#3) and journalists (#6), which makes all of us at Above the Law wonder if we should be more worried about our co-editors.
This may be big news to the folks at Salon (and Alternet, where the article first appeared), but it’s not news to Above the Law. We knew all about you rat bastard psychos all along! We even knew about this research, employed by author Kevin Dutton in his book, The Wisdom of Psychopaths: What Saints, Spies, and Serial Killers Can Teach Us About Success (affiliate link), which Staci wrote about in 2012, when she quoted a successful lawyer on the subject:
