Should the courts remain the only recourse for alleged victims of campus sexual assault? Or should campuses be empowered to invoke Title IX to provide redress in a non-criminal setting? In case you want to watch a debate tonight that will actually involve some substance, the good people of Intelligence Squared U.S. are hosting another thought-provoking debate about a timely legal issue. Tonight’s debate put on by Intelligence Squared U.S. pits Yale Law professor Jed Rubenfeld and Harvard Law professor Jeannie Suk (who made news late last year claiming students are undermining the teaching of rape law) in defense of keeping sexual assault cases squarely the province of the courts, while Dean Michelle Anderson of CUNY School of Law and Stephen Schulhofer of NYU School of Law speak in defense of bolstering campus alternatives.
The debate kicks off at 6:45 p.m. Eastern and you can watch the whole affair below. And don’t forget to cast your votes before and after the debate.
