YALE LAW SCHOOL — DEAN ROBERT POST — UPDATE ON COMMUNITY HEALTH ISSUE
I write to provide you with an update on the illness that affected a number of Law School community members over the past two days.
The Law School has been working with Yale Health, the state and city departments of health, and Yale’s Office of Emergency Management on a coordinated response to a suspected occurrence of a norovirus at the Law School.
Keeping Law School Accessible When Federal Loans Fall Short
As federal borrowing caps tighten financing options for law students, one organization is stepping in to negotiate the terms they can't secure alone.
If you are experiencing vomiting, nausea, or related symptoms, please stay home and contact your Primary Care Provider at Yale Health, or contact Acute Care at 203 432-0123. Yale Health also encourages everyone to be vigilant about washing hands while the situation is being assessed.
Overnight, areas of the Law School were disinfected with a solution of household bleach that inactivates norovirus, including potential surfaces of contact in the dining hall, kitchen, classrooms, restrooms, and student affairs office areas—everything from door handles and stairwell railings to desks, tables, countertops, etc. Yale’s Office of Facilities is planning on conducting another deep clean tonight.
Please be assured that every effort is being taken to ensure the health and safety of our community. If you have any concerns, please feel free to reach out to Dean of Student Affairs Ellen Cosgrove, who can put you in touch with other sources of information and assistance. For more information on noroviruses, you may want to visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website at http://www.cdc.gov/norovirus/about/overview.html.
Be well.
