Lawyer Seen 'Bent Over A Table Apparently Having Sex With An Inmate'

Allegations of jailhouse sex shenanigans earn a lawyer some unwelcome attention.

jail kissWho hasn’t been swept away by the Spartan romance of the county jailhouse interview room? The fluorescent lighting casting shadows on the sterile concrete… so hot.

The story out of Florida — of course it’s Florida — is that a local attorney let that romance overcome her during a recent client interview:

A jail deputy walked in on Jessica Mishali, 35, and her client, convicted felon Ysreal Granda, 26, about 3 p.m. Wednesday and saw the pair “engaged in what appeared to be sexual intercourse,” a police report said.

Granda is jailed on four felony charges including two counts of attempted murder, records show. He was released from a Florida prison in March 2012 after serving the majority of a four-year sentence for a conviction on two counts of attempted murder in Miami-Dade County.

Wow.

Needless to say, this event has sparked the interest of the Florida Bar and gotten her locked out of all Broward County jails:

A memo with Mishali’s photo has been posted at all jail scanners and master controls, stating: “Jessica Mishali David is prohibited from entering any Broward Sheriff’s Office facility or onto any BSO property for any reason either personal or professional until further notice.”

The “David” in there is a nod to the fact that Mishali is also married, which has to make these allegations even harder. It’s one thing to face a professional crisis, and another to have your life partner afraid that you stabbed him in the back by getting stabbed in the back by a guy who stabs people in the back (technically this time he’s facing charges for firing “six shots into a car the mother of his 6-year-old daughter was riding in with another man).

Mishali doesn’t face any criminal charges, but getting barred from the jailhouse is an unfortunate turn for a criminal defense lawyer. But this is a fluid situation and we’ll see how this all shakes out after we hear her side of it:

When reached by telephone Thursday, Mishali, of Hollywood, declined to comment. “I’m not at liberty to comment because of attorney-client privilege,” she said.

That is… a curious reading of the privilege.
