The bar exam is the worst. Even for the super prepared and diligent student, it is a stressful endeavor. In order to start the career you have studied three years for, and likely went into quite a bit a debt for, you MUST pass this test. And don’t worry, it isn’t quick — it’s a multi-day affair. And there are oh, so many things that can go wrong.
Here at Above the Law, we love a good bar exam horror story. When things go topsy turvy during the biggest exam of your life, we are here to listen to your complaints. Yesterday was Day 1 of the D.C. bar exam, and we already have complaints about the administration of the exam:
The D.C. bar exam started 3 hours late.
Rut-roh.
That’s a long time to get extra nervous before the exam starts. According to our tipsters, the delay was caused by missing test books, and no one could get started before they were accounted for:
Out of over 700 people, they lost 6 booklets and made everyone wait for them to try to find them. Excuses like “people switched from typing to writing,” we’re given. People whose booklets were missing were telling them that they never switched. They let everyone go to the bathroom, which caused a mass exodus. They blamed the lack of booklets on the fact that people went to the bathroom. At 11, they finally moved the 6 people to a separate room to get their booklets and take the exam. It was absolute CHAOS.
Here’s hoping Day 2 runs more smoothly for all the stressed-out test takers.
