Lawyerly Lairs

Lawyerly Lairs: From Horse Stable To Organ Factory To $2.3 Million Home (Replete With Trapdoor!)

This renowned trial lawyer's home has no shortage of character.

Make that other bedroom, singular — if you have a big family, this two-bedroom home might not be right for you. Still, the second bedroom is perfectly pleasant:

And let me remind you again about that amazing main living space. The wrought-iron chandelier you can see in this photo was reclaimed from Baltimore’s dearly departed Valencia Theater:

My top question: why is David Sanford selling such a beautiful and interesting home? I reached out to Sanford by email, and he had this to say:

I currently have a bicoastal marriage and spend much time with my wife and family in California.

Fair enough. But for those of you still living in D.C., this historic house would make a great bachelor/bachelorette pad. And it would offer a front-row seat to history, when our next president — whoever she or he might be — takes office.
