What Are We Looking for?
Eligibility for alt.legal Innovation Awards is limited to independent or venture-backed companies (not law firms, and not businesses acquired by Thomson Reuters, LexisNexis, Wolters Kluwer, Bloomberg Law, and the like) who meet the following criteria:
- Company founded less than 7 years ago and with revenues of $15 million or less;
- Primarily focused on serving the legal industry; and
- Not directly engaged in the practice of law.
Companies are invited to tell us their stories: Why are they awesome? What legal industry problems are they seeking to solve? What solutions are they developing? We encourage companies to apply that are developing entirely new ideas — or evolving existing ideas — that can solve a major sticking point in the legal industry.
Our submission deadline is September 12. Once the submissions are in, the alt.legal Innovation Awards panel of expert judges will assess entrants based on a wide range of factors, including novelty of technology, the size of the market opportunity, and viability of revenue model. (The ATL audience will also have the chance to weigh in on which companies they consider to be the most game-changing for the profession.)
Please note that entry is not restricted only to technology companies — innovative providers of services or integrated solutions are encouraged to enter as well.
