Waldo D. Jones Jr.: Waldo Jones — who’s currently a special counsel, and a bit older than the other new partners — joined S&C back in 1990, after graduating from Rutgers for college and the University of Pittsburgh for law school. He now heads the firm’s Sydney office, where he works on capital-markets and M&A matters.
Joseph J. Matelis: Also a special counsel, but based out of Washington, D.C., Matelis is an antitrust lawyer. He’s a graduate of UNC for college and Harvard for law school.
Jeffrey B. Wall: Another special counsel, Jeff Wall also works out of Washington, where he serves as co-head of S&C’s appellate practice. It would be tough to top his résumé: Georgetown for college, the University of Chicago for law school, clerkships for Judge J. Harvie Wilkinson (4th Cir.) and Justice Clarence Thomas, and service in the U.S. Solicitor General’s office, where he participated in some entertaining arguments. Wall’s time in the SG’s office partly explains how, not even 15 years out of law school (class of 2003), he already has 11 SCOTUS arguments under his belt). Impressive!
Thomas C. White: Also a special counsel in litigation, Thomas White is based in New York, where he represents global companies and financial institutions in complex litigation, arbitration, and government investigations. He’s a graduate of Dartmouth College and Yale Law School, and he clerked on the S.D.N.Y. for one of my favorite jurists, Judge (and former Chief Judge) Loretta Preska (who’s both fabulous and fabulously wealthy).
