So, we are mid-March madness… is your bracket busted? With Villanova, Duke, and Florida State losing, there’s nary a perfect bracket in the country. But fret not! You can still get in on the madness with Above the Law’s Biglaw Lawyers Behaving Badly Bracket. The first half of the Sweet Sixteen matchups have concluded, so now we can move on to the Elite Eight in the Al Capone and Do Your Job regions. (Voting is still open until March 22nd at 6:00 a.m. in the Sweet Sixteen voting for the Infamous and Impulse Control regions.)
So, without further ado, here is where our bracket currently stands:

#1 Seed Keila Ravelo v. #2 Seed John O’Brien
The Biglaw partner who’s accused of running a litigation vendor scam that allegedly netted her and her husband nearly $8 million in embezzled fees easily won her opening matchup. But now Keila Ravelo has to take on someone who was sentenced to two years of jail time for his misdeeds.
John O’Brien was punished for not filing taxes on $9.2 million in partnership income. I can easily see how a little thing like $9.2 million can just fall through the cracks… oh, wait. No, I can’t.

#4 Seed Jeffrey Wertkin v. #2 Seed Carlos Spinelli-Noseda
Upset alert: on this side of the bracket we have a #4 seed who took out a former Biglaw associate serving 12 (!) years in prison for insider trading. But that 4 seed, Jeffrey Wertkin, does have the benefit of recency, and, you know, he was wearing a wig when he got arrested for selling a whistleblower complaint. So, you know, not the best look for a Biglaw partner.
Wertkin faces off against #2 seed Carlos Spinelli-Noseda. Spinelli-Noseda is the former Sullivan & Cromwell partner who simply could not get his reimbursements correct… to the tune of $500,000.
