This Month’s Podcasts On Legal Talk Network

March and April Highlights: Trial of the Century, Data Paranoia, and the Magnificent 8.

Legal Talk Network Image - HeadphonesThis month in podcasting at Legal Talk Network saw a lot of travel and recordings. In addition to the line up of regularly produced shows, the network published 39 additional episodes covering ABA TECHSHOW, ABA Section of Antitrust Law’s Spring Meeting, Evolve Law Summit, and one not-yet-named new LTN show getting closer to launch (still a secret for now).

Among many from regular production, the following went live:

Trial of the Century:

Called by many the trial of the century, The People of the State of California vs. Orenthal James Simpson incorporated issues of race, celebrity, and police corruption into the most televised murder trial in modern history. Hear what led up to the controversial verdict as well as the origin of the saying “if the glove doesn’t fit, you must acquit” from Carl Douglas, member of the O.J. Simpson defense team in this episode of the ABA Law Student podcast with host Chris Morgan.

Paranoia’s Digital Security:

This month saw not one episode about paranoia and digital security but two. The first via Digital Detectives features Exec Security President Charles Patterson discussing what attorneys need to know about electronic bug sweeps. The second via the Lawyerist Podcast has Ansel Halliburton talking about technologists and their recent efforts to reduce data collection and surveillance.

The Magnificent 8:

Recorded from the expo hall floor from ABA TECHSHOW 2017, ABA Journal Editor and Publisher Molly McDonough hosts six episodes of ABA Journal’s Legal Rebels podcast featuring eight innovators sharing their contributions to improving the legal profession and closing the access to justice gap.

Algorithms + Data = Litigation:

Math alert! It’s time to break out the ibuprofen and calculators (just kidding) with this episode of the Un-Billable Hour when host Chris Anderson talks to Clio’s lawyer in residence Joshua Lenon and Legalist co-founder Eva Shang about her company’s uses of data and algorithms for underwriting commercial litigation. Tune in to hear how their use of metrics makes trial work affordable for those who otherwise can’t.

Al-Tounsi’s SCOTUS:

Critically acclaimed Canadian-American author Anton Piatigorsky takes a behind-the-scenes approach in his recent fictional novel about the Supreme Court’s Justices as they decide a landmark case involving the rights of detainees at a military base resembling Guantanamo Bay.

Events Coverage:

During the recent multi-state tour, Legal Talk Network covered several events. The first stop was ABA TECHSHOW 2017 in Chicago, Illinois, with 19 episodes dedicated to topics ranging from robots in law, managed service providers, and alternate uses for your law degree to working efficiently, pitching to the media, and apps that will make your working life easier. Following that, coverage ventured to Washington, D.C., for the ABA Section of Antitrust Law’s Spring Meeting where 14 episodes were recorded with some of the biggest names in practice discussing the latest in antitrust law for both domestic and international jurisdictions. Finally, coverage concluded in New York City with the Evolve Law Summit’s 5 episodes discussing the collaboration of innovators, strategic partners, and investors as well as the impact of those relationships on the legal profession. Tune in to hear what investors are looking for when it comes to funding new companies servicing the legal industry (episodes to air soon).
