Listen… I know you know this, but please make sure to silence your cellphone when you are in a courtroom. Yes, I’m sure you already did that, but why don’t you check again, just to be sure? See, doesn’t that feel better? You wouldn’t want to cause a scene and get thrown out of the sexual assault trial of a disgraced celebrity. That would be embarrassing.
That’s what just happened to Gloria Allred earlier this week during testimony in the Bill Cosby rape trial. Allred, who represents several of the women who’ve accused the comedian of rape, promises her cellphone really was turned off, but during the second day of Andrea Constand’s testimony, the ringer went off. Allred had to leave the courtroom as she tried to master the art of the silent setting. She explained herself to the New York Post:
