— Judge Patricia Millett of the D.C. Circuit, sharing a story about what she told her colleagues in the solicitor general’s office who were worried that she’d give birth before oral arguments, during a recent panel discussion on women in the Supreme Court. Millett was eight months pregnant at the time, and a security officer wouldn’t allow her into the courtroom before she proved she was arguing the case. “He couldn’t imagine an eight-month pregnant woman sitting at the counsel table,” she said.
