At the risk of sounding like “Doug,” if you escape the pit of misery, you really shouldn’t go back, even if your plan is to return with contraband for your fellow inmates.
The story of Texas prisoner, Joshua Hansen, is, sadly, more realistic than a Bud Light ad. From the ABA Journal:
An escaped federal inmate in Beaumont, Texas, was arrested Wednesday evening as he was returning to prison with alcohol, tobacco, pot and home-cooked food.
Hansen was carrying a duffel bag containing brandy, whisky, tobacco, packaged snacks, fruit and a large amount of home-cooked food, according to the press release.

I get why you can’t have this. And I get that people will focus on the weed. Hansen is actually in prison because he was convicted of trying to distribute a designer drug.
But, what I see here is that a man risked re-capture to bring his friends some food. The Dallas Morning News reports that it was a “large amount” of home-cooked food. How can you not love that guy.
Hansen is now being charged with “escape” and ” possession of marijuana.” This war on drugs debases us all. Dilly dilly, Joshua Hansen. Dilly freaking dilly.
For those of you who have no idea what this post is about, here’s what you are missing when fast-forwarding through the commercials:
