During Legalweek, we gathered some top-notch legal tech evangelists to give short, five-minute presentations on broad trends in the industry. And then a panel of judges got to grill them on it. It was good fun for all of us on the judging side of things.

We had around 100 guests on hand to watch the festivities, have some refreshments, and mingle with their peers. It was the perfect end to a busy day of Legalweek, and thanks again to Evolve Law and Wolters Kluwer for sponsoring the event.

Jonathan Broder of VortextLegal talked about alternative legal service providers generally and drove that home with the most engaging visual aides the audience had ever seen. David Berger of Integra Legal Ledger told us we have nothing to fear from the inevitable blockchain revolution — and tried to give us a grammar lesson about buffalo that would not impress Strunk & White. Tom Martin of LawDroid explained the practical efficiencies of chatbots for tasks like client intake and slandered the HAL 9000, who was only following orders. Finally, Michael Simon explained why lawyers don’t need to be coders, they just need to not be Luddites.
