With the GDPR looming, Facebook on the defensive, and data breaches seemingly a daily occurrence, privacy law is a matter of massive interest and urgency in 2018. Therefore, we decided to put together a new feature, The ATL Top Law Firm Privacy Practice Index (sponsored by our friends at Thomson Reuters). Privacy concerns are increasingly seen as an existential threat to a broad range of industries. Biglaw has responded with a swift and widespread ramping up of data privacy and cybersecurity capabilities. This Index is an attempt to capture the most active and relevant major law firms in this complex and rapidly evolving practice area.
We used three (equally weighted) factors to identify the firms in our Index:
- A survey of in-house counsel
- The firms’ resource commitment to the practice
- Thought leadership
