These Black Law Students Want To Change The Perception Of Their Town And Law School

What’s the first thing you think of when you hear “Charlottesville”? If you’re like most of the country, it’s probably some of the violent images from last summer’s Unite the Right rally that led to the killing of Heather Heyer. But there are people who live and go to school there that wish “white supremacists” wasn’t the first thing you think of when you think Charlottesville.

Cue a group of recent graduates of University of Virginia School of Law. A group of (now former) black law students there put together an inspiring music video celebrating their achievements. As one of the stars of the video tells Above the Law:

[The video] was made to illustrate the resilience and strength of the black graduates at UVA Law after our grounds were invaded by white supremacists.

So sit back, relax and enjoy the #blackexcellence (and some lit tunes). It’s probably your last chance to chill before bar prep begins in earnest
