Drinking For A Good Cause

Show Melania -- and the world -- that yes, you do care...

I’m sitting here at Above the Law headquarters and Melania Trump just wore a jacket to visit a child detention center that proclaimed she really doesn’t care, and the outrage here is palpable. There’s a non-zero percent chance that the anger over it all is going to cause Elie Mystal to stroke out. Everything about the immigration situation at the southern border is horrifying, but figuring out what we can actually do to show Melania — and the world — that yes, we do care, can be a challenge.

If… any of this sounds familiar, I suggest going to a fundraiser hosted by Above the Law, Fashionista, and Dealbreaker to raise some money for KIND (Kids in Need of Defense). It’s on Tuesday, June 26th, at 6:30 p.m. at Caveat on Clinton Street. (You can buy tickets here.)

We’ll have immigration experts and activists in a panel discussion to provide people with information on how to best get involved. There’ll be opportunities to network with likeminded individuals. And we’ll be raising money in support of a great organization. One hundred percent of the ticket take is going directly to KIND and 20 percent of the cash bar (and food) sales go to KIND. There will also be raffles (with some awesome prizes including a wine tour and tasting, a year-long membership to a salon, and gift cards galore!) with the proceeds going to KIND.

So come on out — vent your frustration and disgust to people who care, find out what you can do to make a difference, and have a drink — it’s for a good cause.
