Subject: CONFIDENTIAL: Compensation adjustments for U.S. associates
Sensitivity: Confidential
Our associates are critical to our overall success. We have consistently aimed to provide our associates with fair and market-based total compensation — both in base salary and merit-based bonuses — that is competitive within our markets.
Considering this goal, we are pleased to announce that we are increasing base salaries effective July 1, 2018. New associate base salaries in California, Baltimore, Houston, Philadelphia, New York, Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia are as follows:

Summer associates in these offices will receive an increase to their base salary as well, consistent with the Class of 2017.
The Boston office will increase the current office class salaries by the dollar amount of the class increase in the offices listed above. The Boston office will move fully to the scale above as of January 1, 2019.
In addition, we are pleased to announce that we will be awarding summer bonuses this year for all associates in the U.S. who are on pace to meet the normal quality and productivity expectations of the firm, inclusive of pro bono under our policy. Bonuses will be paid at the end of July based on annualized hours from November 1 through June 30, and we will commit to revisit anyone who did not receive a bonus at year-end if they ultimately achieve the hours goals for the associate compensation year. For the benefit of individual associates who started with the firm after September 1, 2017, we will take into account some transition time when considering whether they are annualizing at 2,000 hours. These bonuses will be subject to proration for start date, reduced-time, and leave arrangements.
