A couple of days ago, we wrote about a man who posted on Reddit to ask for legal advice on how to dodge a sexual harassment investigation aimed at him. He told a story of harassing a woman at a pool, while he was on a business trip for his company. He, and apparently his entire company, were “banned for life” from the hotel.

Reddit man wanted to know that if he lied about the encounter, as he intended, if there was any “proof” the investigation could have… beyond the word of the woman and others.

Apparently, the answer to that question was “yes.” Reddit man now reports that he’s been told to expect a termination notice:

I’ve been completely numb the past couple of days. I got fired.

They fucking got surveillance of me. The investigator refused to show me the video and I denied the allegations vehemently. HR manager and VP said they interviewed “several people” and suspended me indefinitely. My boss told me afterwards to prepare for the termination notice.

I have a feeling he ratted me out. He has been ignoring my texts now. I truly thought he’d get my fucking back.

I told my wife I was laid off. She can never know the truth. I don’t know how long I’m going to spend jobless. I worked hard to move up in the world and finally got the job of a lifetime with a great salary. This is devastating.

Edit-

I wasn’t the only one who acted up yet I got fired. I need to know my legal rights. This is inconsistent.

Remember, this is a man who admits (anonymously on Reddit) that he engaged in the behavior the woman claims he did, behavior that got him and his company banned from a hotel, behavior that is apparently captured on tape, and yet he cannot believe that there isn’t some way for him to lie his way out of it.

But, in case he’s listening, I’ve put together a little explainer for him:

Legal Rights For At-Will Employees Fired After Video Footage Confirms Sexual Harassment Allegations Against Them:

What are my legal rights? None.
How can I appeal my employer’s decision? You can’t.
You mean they can just take her word for it? Yep. Also, all the other people. And the video.
They can fire me for any reason? Any non-discriminatory reason, sure.
They’re discriminating against me because I’m a man: This is a legal explainer, not an alt-right fanfic debunker.
I have information about other bad people at my organization: We can be reached at [email protected].
This seems unfair: Okay.

HTFH, Reddit man. I feel sorry for your wife.
