Associate Bonus Watch: The First Major Firm Matches Cravath
It's bonus time at this leading law firm!
Just a few hours after Cravath kicked off the 2018 bonus season with a rather generous (and rather familiar) bonus scale, another leading law firm has matched.
For the past three years, Milbank has been the first firm to match Cravath’s year-end bonuses — but not this year. We suppose Milbank doesn’t need to be quick given the fact that associates have the firm to thank for the new $190K salary scale.
This time around, Paul Weiss is first firm to hop on the Cravath bonus bandwagon. Bonuses at the firm will be paid on December 21. This date is a week later than the Cravath payout date of December 14, which might be annoying from a holiday shopping perspective, but it’s not a huge difference. Plus, who’s really going to complain about up to six extra figures in their bank accounts right before Christmas?
