Biglaw Firm Announces Bonuses And A New Pay Scale (For Some)

Plus bonus news!

Good news for Pepper Hamilton associates, well, at least those in the Philadelphia, Berwyn, Princeton, and Wilmington offices. The firm announced there was a new pay scale for associates in those offices, and while it doesn’t match the $190,000 scale set by Milbank/Simpson/Cravath earlier this year, given the lower cost of living in these markets, it still seems like a pretty nice payday.

So what can associates expect to make? The firm’s new scale (for the above-mentioned offices) is as follows:

Class of 2018 – $175
Class of 2017 – $185
Class of 2016 – $200
Class of 2015 – $225
Class of 2014 – $240
Class of 2013 – $255
Class of 2012+ – custom

Not a bad way to start the new year.

The firm also unrolled its bonus structure (for all offices). They include bonus numbers at the 2,040 and 2,140 billable hour threshold in addition to non-lockstep discretionary bonuses:

Bonus (2,040 hours / 2,140 hours)
2017/2016 – $10,000 / $15,000
2015/2014 – $12,500 / $17,500
2013/2012 – $15,000 / $20,000
2011/2010 – $17,500 / $22,500
Plus a discretionary bonus (minimum of 1,940 hours).
