Law Firm Mentoring Trip Heads To Amsterdam Sex Show

This story is going exactly where you think it is.

As you might suspect from the title, this is a story about pending sexual harassment litigation.

A 27-year-old newly qualified solicitor says a 49-year-old married senior partner took her and a clutch of other attorneys to an Amsterdam sex show. Because nothing builds cohesion with your female employees than watching live porn… as a team.

Unsurprisingly, the junior attorney — who is nameless as are all parties in this matter per the tribunal’s order — alleges that this wasn’t an isolated incident and corresponded with a campaign that involved trips to expensive restaurants and unwanted sexual advanced in hotels on business trips.

The complainant also recounted “constant” groping in hotel rooms, as well as being “secretly videoed” and photographed. A said that she put up with the harassment for the sake of her career:

“The way I reacted to the sexual harassment and the touching was, I kept telling myself you have got no choice, you have to put up with this otherwise you’re going to lose your job.”

The attorney claims she was fired from her job for spurning the partner’s advances. For his part, the partner denies everything and says the junior was fired for screwing up her timesheets which is an awkward point for me to plug some of the truly amazing timekeeping software available on the market. His attorney cites some messages she sent friends indicating that she wanted to “f**k up his life” which could suggest an act of revenge but could also be an entirely reasonable response to being harassed and then fired so it may not be the smoking gun the partner thinks it is.

In any event, don’t take your employees to sex clubs. That’s your official Above the Law tip of the day.
