Inaugural IP Operations Demographic Report Released

The report leverages an unprecedented amount of data about the makeup of the IP operations function.

Today, in partnership with the Blickstein Group and CPA Global, we are releasing IP Operations Professionals: 2019 Demographic Study, a first-of-its-kind report analyzing the people engaged in defining and developing the IP operations field.

The burgeoning field of IP operations is more than just a corollary phenomenon of the broader legal operations movement. IP ops merits separate consideration. In fact, the process-oriented nature of IP arguably makes it particularly amenable to the application of business discipline and strong process to the legal function.

Based on an analysis of nearly 700 companies (a majority of the Fortune 1000, plus other significant IP-focused firms), the report leverages an unprecedented amount of data about the makeup of the IP operations function. Our findings concern a wide array of variables: industry, job title, educational credentials, tenure, geographic market, gender, and much more.
