To DW All

Today, we posted the following statement on social media and our website. We previously joined in a letter with other local leaders in Columbus supporting a City Council resolution declaring racism a public health crisis. We are also working with the other major law firms in Metro Detroit on a joint statement. I would like to thank Aaron Burrell and Tim Overton as well as Harlan Robins and the rest of our Diversity & Inclusion Committee for their many efforts during this difficult time. Now, more than ever, we need to support our diverse attorneys and the mission of our Diversity & Inclusion Committee. We are stronger together!

This week, we join the rest of our nation in grieving the tragic loss of George Floyd. In Floyd’s death, and in other incidents our nation has witnessed, we are again reminded of the continued and unacceptable systemic racism that challenges our country. At Dickinson Wright, we strive for equality and inclusion for all individuals. We are working tirelessly to be a diverse and inclusive firm that welcomes all participants at the table and empowers them to contribute. We cannot pretend to have answers right now for our collective grief, but we can promise our continued efforts to find light, to find solace, and to find justice; in short, to find ways to ensure that all individuals are heard and treated with the respect, dignity, and humanity that so many, like George Floyd, have been denied.
