SIMPSON THACHER — MEMO RE: SPECIAL BONUSES

MEMORANDUM TO ALL ASSOCIATES AND COUNSEL

While 2020 has presented extraordinary challenges, the partners of the Firm recognize that you have continued to go above and beyond to serve the needs of our clients.   We are immensely grateful for your hard work and perseverance under these trying circumstances.

In recognition of your efforts and dedication, we are pleased to announce that associates in good standing in all of our offices globally will receive a bonus as outlined below, to be paid on October 15.   We do not anticipate this special bonus will impact year-end bonus levels, which we expect to be at least consistent with last year’s amounts.

Class of 2019              $7,500

Class of 2018              $10,000

Class of 2017              $20,000

Class of 2016              $27,500

Class of 2015              $32,500

Class of 2014              $37,000

Class of 2013              $40,000

Class of 2012              $40,000

Bonuses for associates with special compensation arrangements will be communicated separately.  Bonuses for Counsel and Senior Counsel will be determined at year-end on a case-by-case basis.  Bonuses for associates who were on leave, worked part-time during any part of this year or who were not employed by the Firm for the entire year will be subject to proration.

Thank you as always for your resilience and dedication to the Firm, our clients and each other.
