What Law Firms Need To Do To Support New Parents

Law firms can, and should, do more.

I chat with Elle McCulty, partner at Waller Lansden Dortch & Davis, LLP and chair of the firm’s Women’s Leadership Council. We discuss balancing firm leadership with her practice, the programs the Council implemented, the firm’s recognition by Working Mother magazine, and how the firm supports for re-entry of new parents into firm life. We also talk about why it is important for firms to make a concerted effort to support parents in the workplace and advice for younger attorneys trying to have it all.

The Jabot podcast is an offshoot of the Above the Law brand focused on the challenges women, people of color, LGBTQIA, and other diverse populations face in the legal industry. Our name comes from none other than the Notorious Ruth Bader Ginsburg and the jabot (decorative collar) she wore when delivering dissents from the bench. It’s a reminder that even when we aren’t winning, we’re still a powerful force to be reckoned with.

Happy listening!
