ROPES & GRAY — MEMO — 2021 BONUSES
As the year approaches its close, we want to thank you again for your extraordinary efforts and contributions to the firm, our clients and each other during 2021. This has been a challenging year, professionally and personally, and yet in true Ropes fashion, you remained committed to our clients, our community, each other and our firm, and we are grateful.
We will be paying both your bonus and the special bonus in accordance with the scale below to those of you who have met the firm’s hours target. We also recognize that this year has brought a heavy volume of work for many of you, and we know the sacrifices you have made to continue providing our clients the highest level of service. Therefore, we are increasing the bonuses listed below for those of you who annualized above our target and helped us bring the year to a successful close.

Earlier announced special bonuses
Earlier this year, we announced two special bonus installments for 2021, the first of which was paid in April. If you are eligible to receive this bonus, the second installment will be paid at the same time as your year-end bonus.
All bonus amounts will be paid in one installment by direct deposit on December 23, 2021. Associates must be employed by the firm and in good standing on that date to be eligible for the payment. Bonuses for associates on reduced schedules will be prorated appropriately.
Context Windows In Legal AI And Why Content Still Determines Quality
Legal teams ask a practical question. If large language models are so capable, why does legal AI still depend on curated content, and why does surfacing that content matter so much?
On behalf of the entire partnership, we want to thank all of you for your hard work and dedication over the past year. It is a privilege to work with such an extraordinary group of professionals.
