Former Law Clerk Speaks Out About Her Experience With Harassment

Opening up about her clerkship changed her life.

Sexual harassment – dictionary definitionIn this episode of The Jabot, I speak with Aliza Shatzman, a family law attorney in Washington, D.C. and a former law clerk, about a topic she’s unfortunately all too familiar with — judicial harassment. Aliza shares her experience of clerking and how the system failed her, forever altering her career. We also discuss the proposed Judiciary Accountability Act which would finally bring judiciary employees under the purview of Title VII. Aliza also talks about her experience  providing a written Statement for the Record to a House Judiciary hearing on judicial harassment.

The Jabot podcast is an offshoot of the Above the Law brand focused on the challenges women, people of color, LGBTQIA, and other diverse populations face in the legal industry. Our name comes from none other than the Notorious Ruth Bader Ginsburg and the jabot (decorative collar) she wore when delivering dissents from the bench. It’s a reminder that even when we aren’t winning, we’re still a powerful force to be reckoned with.

Happy listening!
