As sudden as this appeared to everyone involved and watching, this is not the first time that Rock made a joke at Jada Pinkett’s expense at the Oscars. My money is on this being the last time, lest Mr. Smith or one of his entourage smack with a closed fist next time. This will likely all blow over soon. Chris Rock has declined to press charges and Smith was already seen getting jiggy, Oscar in hand shortly after the aftermath.
Hopefully this response to fighting words doesn’t give anyone opposing Yale speakers any ideas.
