A high profile conflict between an A-list celebrity and one of her former friends has finally achieved a little closure. Tory Lanez, a musician known for his Chixtape remixes and strange scalp, has been sentenced to 10 years for shooting Grammy award winner and canon member of the Marvel Cinematic Universe Megan Thee Stallion. From Reuters:
Canadian rapper Tory Lanez was sentenced on Tuesday to 10 years in prison, more than seven months after he was convicted of shooting fellow musical artist Megan Thee Stallion during an argument in 2020.
Judge David Herriford handed down the sentence to the 30-year-old rapper, whose legal name is Daystar Peterson, during a hearing in Los Angeles Superior Court that had been pushed back by delays.
On Dec. 23, a jury found Lanez guilty of carrying a loaded and unregistered firearm in a vehicle, assault with a semiautomatic handgun and discharging a firearm with gross negligence.

Thee Stallion shared that the altercation followed an argument each of them had about each other’s musical careers. A 10-year jail sentence is a hard way to learn that beef is better settled with wax than bullets — but I’m sure Lanez will have more than enough time to reflect on that.
TL;DR: If you’re waiting on Chixtape 6, I wouldn’t hold your breath. Not only has Megan Thee Stallion’s career far outpaced Tory Lanez’s, it will be a gargantuan task for him to catch up at this point. While I am not an expert on the matter, I imagine that it would be difficult to manage a cameo that will rival the MCU from a cell.
On a serious note, domestic abuse is no laughing matter. While Megan declined to be present at sentencing, she submitted a statement that was read in court:
“He lied to anyone that would listen and paid bloggers to disseminate false information about the case on social media. He released music videos and songs to damage my character and continue his crusade.”

I hope that the sentencing brings Megan some well-deserved peace.
