The Hollywood 100: America's Top Entertainment 'Power Lawyers' (2024)

Which lawyers were honored on this year's illustrious list of entertainment dealmakers and litigators?

HollywoodThose working in the Biglaw world may think they’re living lifestyles of the rich and famous, but their prestige pales dramatically when compared to those working in the glittery world of Hollywood glamour. Representing celebrity clients is likely to catapult your name into the news and turn your practice into a household topic of conversation. You may be making it rain with behind-the-scenes work from the comforts of your corner office, but it’s nowhere near as fabulous as freeing Britney Spears from a years-long conservatorship.

Those within the entertainment law bar have worked with some of the most celebrated (and sometimes reviled) clients in the country, and in most cases, the world. Thankfully, for the 18th year in a row, The Hollywood Reporter has released a ranking to evaluate Hollywood’s top attorney talent.

Let’s check out the new list of the entertainment industry’s Top 100 “Power Lawyers,” which we’ve dubbed the Hollywood 100.

Here’s how THR chose the names for the list of the entertainment industry’s top 100 “power lawyers”:

Each year, THR’s editors review hundreds of nominations and extensively vet candidates to create a list of the lawyers Hollywood calls for bet-the-company legal battles and groundbreaking talent deals.

We evaluate lawyers as individuals and do not highlight duos or teams. This feature highlights attorneys at law firms. That means, unfortunately, in-house lawyers aren’t eligible.

These 100 standouts — listed alphabetically along with their practice area, firm and law school alma mater — negotiate the pacts and fight the battles that keep the cameras rolling.

We mentioned earlier that behind-the-scenes work doesn’t make as many headlines as representing Hollywood talent in the public eye, and that’s evident when you look at the breakdown between talent, litigation, and corporate lawyers on this list. While the corporate segment of the list names only 17 lawyers, the talent segment names 62 lawyers. At 21, the litigation segment has a respectable number of lawyers, many of whom hail from brand-name Biglaw firms.

On the hefty talent dealmakers list, boutiques dominate, with firms like Gang Tyre, Sloane Offer, JSSK, Hansen Jacobson, Schreck Rose, and Jackoway Austin appearing repeatedly. When we move to litigation and corporate, Biglaw comes out in bulk, with representation from some of the most successful firms in the Am Law 100 as well as the most recognizable lawyers, ranging from Akin (Marissa Román Griffith) to Cravath (Faiza Saeed) to Gibson Dunn (Orin Snyder) to Greenberg Traurig (Mathew Rosengart) to O’Melveny (Leah Godesky) to Quinn Emanuel (Alex Spiro).

Congratulations to everyone who made the list. It’s well-deserved recognition for all of your work in an industry featuring clients who may be some of the hardest to deal with in the world.
