The Global 200: The Richest Law Firms In The World (2024)

Which firms are at the very top of the list this year?

glass globe and moneyLaw.com International recently published its latest edition of the Global 200, a ranking of the world’s 200 largest law firms by total revenue. How did these firms do in the year that was? As we learned from the most recent Am Law 100 rankings, what goes down usually comes back up — and in some cases, way up. Compared to the year prior, the Global 200 saw a combined revenue increase of 6.5%, with profits per equity partner at the top 100 firms up by 12.4%.

What are we looking at in terms of the big picture?

For some guidance, we need only turn to the headline story on Law.com International concerning the rankings: “The Year Law Firms Had to Get Smart (And Ruthless).” In fact, one Biglaw leader said of the year-over-year change, “There is now a new global elite, and they have pulled away. It’s getting bigger and bigger by the year, and clients recognise that.”

Speaking of the “new global elite,” that’s exactly what we’re talking about when it comes to the wealthiest firms in the world. Once again, almost all of the firms at the tippy top of the ranking have the majority of their lawyers in the U.S. These are the top 10 firms of the 2024 Global 200 (ranked by 2023 revenue):

  1. Kirkland & Ellis: $7,208,000,000
  2. Latham & Watkins: $5,688,226,000
  3. DLA Piper: $3,829,531,000
  4. Baker McKenzie: $3,286,791,000
  5. Skadden Arps: $3,270,091,000
  6. Sidley Austin: $3,100,458,000
  7. Gibson Dunn: $3,074,016,000
  8. Ropes & Gray: $2,992,831,000
  9. White & Case: $2,949,400,000
  10. Morgan Lewis: $2,898,514,000

Congrats to all the firms that successfully made it through 2023 — things are certainly looking up for the biggest of Biglaw firms across the globe.
