For some reason, Biglaw raises that dropped yesterday afternoon didn’t receive the immediate Above the Law attention that they normally would. Weird.
Anyway, lost in that shuffle, are these raises out of Paul Hastings, matching the market across the United States. That includes offices in their Los Angeles headquarters, as well as New York, D.C., Atlanta, Chicago, Houston, San Diego, San Francisco, Palo Alto, Century City, and Orange County.
The memo from the firm’s Global Talent Development co-chairs Teri O’Brien and Melanie Rupert also outlines summer bonuses in line with the rest of the top of the market, to be distributed to attorneys who’ve met their annualized billable hours targets, with an opportunity to catch up by the end of the year.
The list of firms that haven’t moved remains longer than one would expect for such a modest raise, but with this move, that list is getting shorter all the time.
As is the list of reasons why an associate wouldn’t take the first opportunity to move to a market with a cheaper cost of living.
(Check out the memo on the next page.)
Remember everyone, we depend on your tips to stay on top of this stuff. So when your firm matches, please text us (646-820-8477) or email us (subject line: “[Firm Name] Matches”). Please include the memo if available. You can take a photo of the memo and send it via text or email if you don’t want to forward the original PDF or Word file.
And if you’d like to sign up for ATL’s Bonus Alerts (which is the alert list we’ll also use for salary announcements), please scroll down and enter your email address in the box below this post. If you previously signed up for the bonus alerts, you don’t need to do anything. You’ll receive an email notification within minutes of each bonus announcement that we publish.
