The Life and Times of Erika Awakening, Professional Pickup Artist and Harvard Law Grad

What would cause a Harvard-educated attorney on a rather prestigious career track to become a pickup artist? Let's find out....

Sometimes attorneys are desperate to find a way out of the legal profession. Sometimes that desperation will lead them down a strange road to an entirely new career — and not just a new career, but a new way of life.

Meet Erika Frick, a graduate of Stanford University and Harvard Law School. After graduating from HLS, Frick worked for the antitrust division of the Department of Justice and for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of California. But if you’re a member of the pickup artist community, you know Frick better as Erika Awakening, a New Age life coach and self-proclaimed guru of the seduction community. How frickin’ fabulous is that?

What would cause a Harvard-educated attorney on a rather prestigious career track to turn her focus to the Law of Attraction? Let’s find out….

Before we get into the details of Erika’s transformation into a pickup artist, we’ll give you some more background on her previous career. During law school, Erika served as a staff member on the Harvard Law Review, as well as the Harvard Women’s Law Journal. She sounds like one smart cookie, and her legal career track seems to support just that.

After graduating, Erika worked for the Antitrust Division of the DOJ, where she handled matters like U.S. v. Microsoft. She then transitioned into a career with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of California, where she argued and won matters like the MLB steroids case, before a three-judge panel of the Ninth Circuit.

It was shortly thereafter that Erika claims a “near-death experience” made her decide to change paths to become a life coach and seductress extraordinaire. From her website:

I found myself suddenly in a hospital bed on the brink of death. I’ll spare you all the gory details, but suffice it to say that I was suffocating, drowning, and dehydrating all at the same time … and I was totally immobilized and barely able to breathe, and for a week in the hospital it was touch and go about whether I was going to live or not…

Now, we haven’t been able to find any information about this supposed near-death experience (and neither have the internet detectives over at AutoAdmit), but by all accounts, it sounds as if she may be likening a professional embarrassment to the death of her career in the law.

Erika’s first blog post about sex and sexuality was posted on September 8, 2008. Just three months later, according to Legal Pad, for the en banc argument of the MLB steroids case Erika argued and won before a three-judge panel, she was replaced by J. Douglas Wilson, her supervisor’s husband — and as we all know, that turned out to be a total train wreck for the federal government.

These days, instead of “doing a job that was prestigious and paid the bills,” Erika is busy fulfilling her “life purpose”: awakening her customers’ loins by peddling her many wares on the internet. Erika teaches lessons like the Anatomy of a Perfect Seduction — for only $97! — and also allows clients to participate in 30-Day Sexual Abundance Challenges for the low, low price of $797.00. (Honestly, who buys this crap?)

We reached out to Erika, but we haven’t received a response yet. We’ll be sure to update this post if we ever do. In the meantime, best of luck to Erika in her new-found success as a pickup artist. May she never awaken to find that she tossed her legal career down the toilet in the hopes of seducing dollars out of suckers’ wallets.
