Career Alternatives for Attorneys: From Biglaw To Big Breasts

An associate left her Biglaw job to launch a lingerie business aimed at helping women like herself: big-busted but not plus-size women who have a hard time buying bras.

It’s hard out here for a big-busted woman. Although being a well-endowed woman has its advantages, it can present problems as well. For example, if you are a large-breasted but not plus-size woman, finding an appropriately sized bra isn’t easy (or so I’m told).

That brings us to the latest profile subject in Bloomberg Law’s excellent series on “stealth lawyers” — attorneys who have left the law to pursue other passions. Today’s stealth lawyer is a big-busted woman who encountered difficulty in locating lingerie for herself.

So she launched her own business to cater to this market, trading Biglaw for big breasts. Let’s meet her….

Her name is Diana St. Louis, and she designs lingerie for “busty” women (not to be confused with plus-size women, who have their own places to turn for underthings). After graduating from a top college and a leading law school, St. Louis worked at a major law firm before leaving to start Bijte Lingerie.

Where did she work, and for how long? How did she come up with the idea for her business? How much did she rack up in savings before busting out of Biglaw? She tells her story to Bloomberg’s Spencer Mazyck:

That’s a respectable stint at a law firm, and a good-sized hoard of cash. And unlike last week’s stealth lawyer, Diana St. Louis had student loans to pay off, so her ability to build up such a nest egg is even more impressive.

And so is her lingerie (which is all made in the U.S.A.). You can read more about it in this glowing review, and you can purchase it through the Bijte website.

Congrats and good luck to Diana St. Louis in her quest to build the perfect bra lingerie. Women (and men) around the world thank her for her service.

UPDATE (1/17/2013, 7:15 PM): I stand corrected. As noted by a commenter, “There are no bras for sale on [the Bijte] website.” (Sorry — I’ve never been an expert on women’s undergarments.)
