Attorney Accused In Law Firm Revenge Stabbing Allegedly Threatened Yet Another Boss After Being Fired From Another Firm

Alecia Schmuhl, the alleged brains behind the attack, apparently has a history of making threats against law firm bosses.

The tale of attorney couple Alecia and Andrew Schmuhl grows more complex every day as new details emerge about their lives prior to their alleged involvement in the gangland-style torture and stabbing of Leo Fisher, the managing partner of Alecia’s former firm, Bean Kinney & Korman.

In November, Alecia — who claimed she was afraid of her husband, and had no idea what he planned to do to Fisher — had a hearing to determine her bond prospects, and at that time, a judge deemed her to be an “extreme danger” to her Virginia community. Yesterday, Alecia had yet another bond hearing on appeal, and was once again condemned to remain behind bars.

Alecia, who is said to have suffered from depression and anxiety, was allegedly the brains behind the operation, despite her attorney’s claims to the contrary. “She’s no shrinking violet in these criminal activities,” noted Virginia prosecuting attorney Casey Lingan. While Alecia’s attorney, Mark Petrovich, continues to allege that his client was “manipulated” by her husband, bitter ghosts from Alecia’s past have come back to haunt her. Here’s more information from the Washington Post:

Lingan argued against Alecia Schmuhl’s bond, saying Schmuhl grew so angry after being let go from a previous job that she told a co-worker that “her boss better be careful because my husband is ex-military and knows people.”

Mark Petrovich, the woman’s attorney, disputed the account, saying it was “second- or third-hand” information. …

The threat was just one of many fresh details about the bizarre case that emerged at the hearing.

Being fired from law firm jobs is no new phenomenon in Alecia’s life, and apparently neither is threatening to sic her husband upon her would-be victims. Believe us when we say that there’s truly nothing more frightening than an ex-military man in a diaper.

In addition to Alecia’s prior history of allegedly making threats against her employers, we now know that her time as a getaway driver was not as uneventful as she and her attorney previously made it out to be. According to Lingan, Alecia led police officers on a dangerous chase, at times reaching reaching speeds of up to 90 to 100 miles per hour. Per Lingan, Alecia even attempted to run a police cruiser off the road. Try as she might to prove otherwise, Alecia sure seems like she was a woman on a mission.

We now know that both Leo Fisher and his wife, Susan Duncan, who was also a victim in the attack, are expected to survive the injuries they sustained the in the violent home invasion allegedly carried out by the Schmuhls. Here’s a statement from Bean Kinney released after Alecia was denied bond for the second time:

The firm remains confident in the strength of the Commonwealth’s case against Alecia and Andrew Schmuhl, the facts of which underscore the need to assure that Leo, Sue and all firm employees remain safe and secure. This morning’s action by the Circuit Court denying bond to Ms. Schmuhl on her appeal of the earlier bond denial is an appropriate extension of the protection we realize from her continuing in custody.

We remain appreciative of the concern and good wishes extended by everyone, and grateful for the continuing recovery of Leo and Sue.

According to WUSA9, a preliminary hearing for both Alecia and Andrew Schmuhl has been set for January 2015, but there’s no word yet as to whether they’ll be tried together or separately. Considering Alecia is already making claims against her husband, we think she’ll fight to be tried separately. Call us pessimists, but these lovebirds’ marriage doesn’t stand a chance to make it through trial.
