In this day and age, it takes a certain kind of jerk to put something hateful in the mail. Like, I hate people more than I ever have in life, and I’m not going to the goddamn post office. I’m not scrawling “Dear Jeff Sessions, I hate you. Signed, every decent human being” on an index card and putting a stamp on it. Jesus, I’m not in prison — life is too short to handwrite letters and work out.
But somebody did take the time to write to Professor Sanford Levinson, one of the world’s leading Constitutional scholars. Well, I’m using the word “write” very liberally. It might be more accurate to say that somebody took the time to vomit on a postcard. Here’s what he received at his Harvard Law School address, where he is a visiting professor:

Who the hell sends a Holopostcard?
Sending a nasty postcard isn’t a crime, but it is the kind of random act of hate that all of us minorities can expect to be subjected to in Trumpworld. As Levinson himself put it in the Boston Globe:
“I often receive hostile letters based on something I have said,” he said. “I view it as the cost of doing business.”
But this letter, which he reported to the dean of the law school, went beyond the typical hate mail that he’s come across as an educator and writer.
“This is a level of anti-Semitic hostility that I have not seen before,” he said. “I see it as a very regrettable data point about the extent to which Donald Trump — intentionally or not — has liberated a kind of discourse we haven’t seen in a long, long time.”

Oh, I think these people have been intentionally unleashed. Trump didn’t accidentally open their cage. He riled them up and sicced them on America to win an election.
You know what the most depressing thing about all this is, to me at least? The postcard came from Britain. Some British — I’m just going to go ahead and assume he was “pro-leave” — jerkface decided to pick on some Jewish guy in a different country because he’s been told that Harvard Law is Fortress Juden.
It just reminds me that there is no place else for minorities to go. The revenge of the white man is sweeping the world. Brexit, Trump, Marie Le Pen is probably going to win and do her best impersonation of a more racist Vercingetorix. We’re going to end up relying on Germany to save Western civilization from itself.
And when you end your post condemning Anti-Semitism with a prayer for German world domination… you realize that you probably haven’t bought enough liquor for Thanksgiving.
