Darth McConnell Makes New Threat To Force Kavanaugh Confirmation

He's altering the deal, pray he does not alter it further.

The Republican party has, somewhat obviously, won. They’ve won in their goals to install a white supremacist president. They’ve won their crusade to change the courts from a protector of minority rights to an enforce of majoritarian terror. They’ve won their tax cuts. The battles Democrats fight today are battles the Republicans won years ago, when they gerrymandered out the competition or refused to let the Census count everybody or when they committed to racial divisiveness.

But winning is no longer enough for Republicans. And so now their goal isn’t just to win (which, again, they’ve done), it’s to inflict maximum pain while winning. Republicans are the guys who kill you and then drag your body through the streets and deny you proper burial rights.

No Republican is in for the bloodlust of it all as much as Mitch McConnell. Yes, I know he looks like a constipated turtle, but he’s not at all funny. Donald Trump is a cartoon villain who wants to put laser beams on sharks. Mitch McConnell is the psychotic f**k who could conceive of a human centipede and then actually do the grisly work of sewing faces to asses.

The latest evidence is in Politico:

The Senate majority leader privately told senior Republicans on Wednesday that if Democrats keep pushing for access to upwards of a million pages in records from President Donald Trump’s high court pick, he’s prepared to let Kavanaugh’s confirmation vote slip until just before November’s midterm elections, according to multiple sources.

Delaying the vote past September would serve a dual purpose for McConnell, keeping vulnerable red-state Democrats off the campaign trail while potentially forcing anti-Kavanaugh liberals to swallow a demoralizing defeat just ahead of the midterms. Senators said McConnell believes the Democratic base will be “deflated” if they raise hopes of defeating Kavanaugh only to lose just days before the election.

Just like the human centipede, I don’t know if this is going to work like McConnell thinks it will. Democrats have, thus far, failed to appreciate the importance of courts. But installing another arch-white guy who wants to overturn Roe on the Supreme Court, right before an actual election, might finally do the trick.

On the other hand, nobody has ever gone broke betting on the weaknesses and defeatism of Appease-o-crats. It’s going to be pretty embarrassing when Dems argue that we need to “take back the Senate,” and then the camera cuts to Joe Manchin in coal-miner cosplay giving Brett Kavanaugh a hand job.

Regardless of whether or not McConnell is right about the amount of pain this would cause, the thing to highlight is that he’s only thinking of inflicting pain. In normal circumstances, ASKING FOR DOCUMENTS IS REASONABLE. McConnell has the votes. He could easily give Democrats the ability to vet Kavanaugh — he knows Trump didn’t do it — and still push through his guy anyway. McConnell’s strategy isn’t about winning, it’s about punishing.

I’ll be voting for whichever Democrat promises to come at him with a total war strategy. You can’t work with a man like McConnell. Either you defeat him, or you serve him.
