Whoops. Even though the polls closed about a week ago, we forgot to announce our Lawyer of the Month for February.
So let’s get to it. Who is Above the Law’s latest honoree?
Filevine’s New Legal AI Platform LOIS Turns AI Into A True Legal Coworker
Legal work isn’t slowing down, and the firms that win won’t be the ones working harder — they’ll be the ones working smarter.
Just like the January contest, which was handily won by the late Chief Judge John Roll, the February Lawyer of the Month race wasn’t even close. The winner racked up almost half the votes — over 20 points ahead of the second-place finisher, Madam Justice Lori Douglas (the porn-posing Canadian judge).
And, once again, the victor is no longer with us. With 47 percent of the vote, Joseph Flom — the recently deceased name partner of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom — is your Lawyer of the Month.
Flom was a pioneering M&A lawyer, a great law firm leader, and a generous philanthropist. You can read more about his remarkable life and legal career over here.
Our first two Lawyers of the Month, Chief Judge John Roll and Joe Flom, were very deserving winners. But hopefully our March awardee will be someone who still walks among us.
