I love South Park. Everybody who can appreciate good comedic writing loves South Park. The freaking Tony Awards kind of love South Park. But unlike religion, or politics, or any of the topics South Park explores week in, week out, the show has never really gone after the absurdity of the law or lawyers. The closest they came was that episode where everybody sued the school for sexual harassment. And while their lawyer character, Gerald Brodlovski, does the suing (and represents everybody in the case of everybody versus everybody), the most memorable thing from that episode is the sexual harassment mascot.

And that makes me a sad panda because there’s so much else they could be doing with the law if they cared to. Trust me, this is a point I’ll make to Matt Stone and Trey Parker if they ever answer one of the increasingly creepy love letters I keep sending them.

But with Matt and Trey leaving a lot of studio space to be filled, in saunters Harvey Birdman, attorney-at-law. Now here is a lawyer who knows how to defend our most sacred rights and heroes. I mean, don’t we all need someone who understands the law around turning into water for the express purpose of copping a feel on Wonder Woman while she’s in the bath?
