Lawyerly Lairs: Hipsters in the Catskills

We're trying to diversify the coverage here at Lawyerly Lairs. After all, the world does not consist entirely of Park Avenue apartments owned by mega-rich law firm partners. Toward that end, we recently wrote about the housing search of some NYU Law students. Let's leave Manhattan behind and head to upstate New York, where we'll visit the beautiful Catskills house of a law professor and his filmmaker wife....

The house boasts four bedrooms and two full bathrooms, spread out over almost 2,000 square feet. It sits on almost two acres of land (which is impressive!). For fellow artsy types, there’s an exterior workshop or shed where you can, you know, make stuff.

The asking price for all this? An altogether reasonable-sounding $345,000, the price of a small studio back in Manhattan.

Here’s what the listing describes as “the stately inset front door, surrounded by decorative woodwork, [which] is the perfect focal point for the symmetrical main portion of the house”:
