Well, well, well.
Mere hours after we reported that West Coast associates were tipping us that Gibson Dunn was adhering to the now-outdated Simpson scale, we hear word that Gibson Dunn’s New York office is handing out bonuses in line with the market set by Davis Polk. Gibson Dunn (NY) is matching DPW!!!
Earlier today, David mused whether Gibson Dunn just didn’t know any better — maybe they honestly thought Simpson was still the top dog. It’s a charitable theory. But at least one anonymous commenter on our original post thinks otherwise:
Gibson matched DPW in NY. The decision to match STB for associates in other offices was deliberate.
“Deliberate”?
Legal Is Changing. And NeoSummit Is Where The Future Is Being Built.
Legal and operational leaders are gathering May 6–7 in Fort Lauderdale to confront the questions the industry hasn't answered—with a keynote from Amanda Knox setting the tone.
A dramatic revelation to say the least. Obviously we don’t know who our anonymous commenter is, so we’ve got to take this news with a grain of salt, but it’s certainly possible that Gibson Dunn associates outside the warm embrace of Manhattan are getting a not-so-subtle message.
Maybe Gibson is our law firm Scrooge after all.
