Texas Attorney General Slapped With Three Felony Counts
Everything's bigger in Texas, including the criminal charges against their attorney general.
Right on cue, Texas AG Ken Paxton surrendered to authorities after three felony indictments — two first-degree felonies for securities fraud and a third-degree felony for failing to register with the state to sell securities — were unsealed.
In a move that surprised absolutely no one, Paxton was afforded every dignity that police never extend to criminal defendants with a lesser pedigree — or for that matter defense lawyers. He never appeared in public, earned a photogenic mugshot, and then walked out on a $35,000 bond. A life lesson: if you plan on committing crimes, it helps if you get yourself elected to high office.
